Custom Router
Showcasing my projects in helpdesk and networking fields.

Story and Implementation
This is not the first custom router. Previously on much older Intel Sandybridge (Intel 2130) platform. I as running PFsense for a number of years but the old Router Completely broke down taking the operating system with it. It was best to start over again. Netgate had made some changes making PFsense a little more proprietary so I decided to try OPNsense this time. It was receiving much more praise in the online community for having a more simple out-of-box experience, a more modern GUI, and generally being more intuitive. I have not not had any problems with it so far. I found Unbound DNS easy to set up and configured as the up stream to Pi-hole to provide some redundancy as well as take advantage of some of PI-holes extra management and monitoring features.
